Social Media Refresher

We held a delightful breakfast this week for friends and clients of RBM. Along with the scrumptious food and a good catch up, we also had time for a social media refresher session. Social media moves so quickly, which is one reason why it’s so exciting, but it requires users to actively keep on the cutting edge. Especially if you’re using social media for business purposes, you must stay fresh and current.

New platforms, layout changes and developments to online tools are occurring all the time. So here is a brief checklist (written April 2013) that you may find helpful in keeping your online profiles updated and looking fantastic.

SMAG Graduation!

Our first Social Media Action Group completed their six month program this month.

It was a pleasure working with this group of business owners to develop their social media strategies, improve the look and feel of their profiles, and assist them in outputting quality content consistently – as well as solving tech issues!

We were happy to hear the feedback that group members not only streamlined their social media strategy and built momentum, but had also seen an increase in brand advocacy and referrals, which had positively impacted their businesses.

We are now working with several group members on producing film content for their websites and YouTube channels.

Enjoy these stills from our final SMAG session for group one. Congratulations to the group!

Our next Social Media Action Group starts in May. Please contact us to book.

48 Hour Film Project

Recently we participated in a 48 Hour Film competition run by 48 Film Project. Collaborating with Story Culture, we were given a genre, character, prop and line of dialogue. We had to turn these elements into a script for a short film, shoot, edit and upload within one weekend!

48 film projectHaving been involved in the 48 Go Green Film Competition in the past, we knew to expect a tumultuous but exciting 48 hours. Team work is crucial in these situations and our small crew of seven people worked amazingly together, with everyone tackling their area of responsibility with gusto!

We were given the following components:

  • Genre – Romance
  • Character – James Aniston, Security Guard
  • Prop – Garbage Can
  • Line of Dialogue – Sir, do not move. Stay where you are.

Take a look at the finished product here.

Teams can enter the competition throughout the year and voting on the submissions will be open to the public From December 1st until December 15th , 2013.

Brand Advocacy via Twitter

We’ve worked with Brockmans Gin for some time now on their social media presence and have enjoyed watching their influence and audience grow steadily over time.

We saw a great example recently of brand advocacy at it’s best. Here, a retail shop stocking Brockmans Gin recommends the product, a consumer jumps into the conversation, the retailer goes on to recommend a venue that serves the drink as well as offering a serving suggestion!

At times it can be hard to measure the exact ROI on your social media efforts. That’s largely because social media is intended to be relational. You may not be able to tell exactly how this one Twitter conversation impacted the company’s bottom line, but as we can see in this example, it’s a powerful interaction nonetheless – and something your company shouldn’t miss out on.
