Emperors’ New Shorts – Screening

If you have seen our short ‘Scott Tells Amanda He Wants to Be More Man’ and you are aware of the back-story, you will know we made it on the fly for a bit of fun and to be proactive as creative artists.

It was intended for Vimeo/ YouTube and a bit of entertainment for our friends on Facebook. Much to my shock, I have been approached to have it screened at short film nights- not once but twice!

Last Sunday it was shown at the Emperors’ New Shorts night held at the Ritzy Cinema, Brixton. The night is hosted by Michael O’Kelly and I suggest you take a look at his website called ‘Emperors’ New’ and comprises sections on film, words and a blog. The short film nights promise a great night out and a high caliber of interesting work.

Here is the feedback on our film STAHWTBMM (!) which is always great to receive:

- Good commentary on relationships! Script amusing – I love his under acting

- Really well acted and written. Loved It.

- Accurate, funny!

- Cute

- Actors look nervous and uncomfortable

- Good dialogue

- A bit silly

- Nothing special

- Great observation of womenenen *that’s what it said*

- The story was really good and the statuses really clear. But the music wasn’t needed. It was too much.

- Too close to home

- Classic – Relationships never fail to interest – Good characters and dialogue

- OK. Could have been better.

- Actors needed more direction. Less mug acting.

Considering we improvised most of the dialogue, I edited it myself very quickly and crudely, the male ‘actor’ is my friend Tom who is actually a filmmaker/ editor… I’m pretty happy with the result!

It is further encouragement to actors and all creative artists to ‘get out there’, create your own work and develop your skills; you never know where it might lead.

- Justine :)

Short Films from Madame Moi

Recently, I was at a photo shoot and met Katy, the creator of Madame Moi. Katy was styling the photo shoot with her unique, hand-crafted accessories such as rings, earrings, head pieces, bracelets, brooches and more. Her motto is “Something old. Something new. Never borrowed. Always you.” Each Madame Moi piece is either hand-crafted using vintage finds, kitsch and luxury fabrics, or sourced exclusively for the customer.

Katy showed me her website and her successful Twitter account. I immediately asked about videos. She was using photos and text to get her brand across, but no videos. We quickly agreed that Katy should do some tutorial videos, showcasing her pieces and furthermore, that she could collaborate with filmmakers, specialist crew and actors to produce some stunning fashion/ short films.

So that is exactly what happened! Katy released her first video on “how to style hair to wear a bow” and featured some of her creations and continued adding to her video collection- she is great in front of the camera and reaches a niche market. In only two months, Katy has had nearly 10 000 hits on her videos!

And if you are wondering about the short films, here they are in two parts. You may also notice a familiar face featured in the clips ;)

A Video Series for Akamas Villas

We have been working with the team at Akamas Villas for three months now, focusing on two main areas 1) Social media strategy, and 2) Films.

We packed up the film crew in March and headed to Cyprus where we filmed for two days non-stop. We captured everything from the stunning villas and the beaches, to the local restaurant and health spa. We have produced one image video and several YouTube videos. The point of these videos are to let the potential customer experience what a holiday at Akamas Villas would be like. They get to see and hear all of the main aspects of the Akamas Villas offering, and they can feel confident when making a booking online.

Since we have been working on these videos, Martin Maynard, the owner has experienced rapid growth and met certain goals that he had hoped to achieve by the end of the year! He has been inspired to change his entire website to position the videos as the main feature. It has been a fantastic journey. We are still working with Martin on his social media and building a credible, authentic online ‘personality’ for the company.

We are proud to showcase a selection of the videos we have made for Akamas Villas:
